"Weekends will never be the same again…"

Too right there, Richard Keys. How many pubs have big screen televisions? How many league supporters have been hit in the pocket by nonsensical kick off times and astronomical ticket prices? Not only that, how many non league football sides have lost gates or gone under as a result of wall-to-wall televised football?

The titles evoke a sense of excitement for the viewer, lacking in BSkyB’s more recent set. It heralds a sense of anticipation, not to mention the start of a more commercialised game for the footballing elite.

Though I feel BSkyB have revolutionised the presentation of the UK’s favourite game, I prefer watching real football - live - at the ground itself - as I do with The Mighty Stalybridge Celtic.
